Why did the chicken cross the road?

To get to the other side.

This is a classic joke told with a dark twist. Maggie grew up on a factory farm where she laid eggs in the hundreds (250 to 300 a year). It is the only life she knew.

One day, Maggie found a hole in the fence and explored the outside world. Unaware of the dangers, she wandered across a road only to get hit by a passing car. Maggie’s life was sadly cut short.

The natural lifespan for chickens is between 5 and 10 years. In the case of battery (and “free-range”) chickens, this is reduced to 1-2 years. In Australia, approximately 664 million chickens are killed for human consumption every year.

Please consider your dietary choices and make the change to an ethical and sustainable, vegan or plant-based diet today.

Do it for your health. Do it for the environment. Do it for Maggie. 🐔

Rest in peace, Maggie and the millions of innocent souls worldwide! ♥️
